AUDIO PROJECTS
This is a sampling of audio projects I’ve made for WCSF Joliet.
AUDIO STORYTELLING
Below is a short narrative piece I made to spotlight the Lockport Swing Thing, a local swing dance club.
HISTORY FEATURES
I really wanted to incorporate history into our programming with some biographical promos. To date, we’ve produced three series of such features.
Each of these projects was a true labor of love for all involved. Below are examples of promos for which I did all the writing, recording, and editing.
Hispanic Heritage Month
The first series was in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and featured biographies of influential Hispanic musicians from a variety of genres. This is my feature on DJ and producer Jellybean Benitez.
Black History Month
Our second series highlighted influential Black musicians during Black History Month. Here’s my feature on Chicago music legend Willie Dixon.
Women’s History Month
For the most recent series on Women’s History Month, we were collaborating with the Criminal and Social Justice Club, so we featured key figures from other disciplines as well as music, including law, activism, and sports. Below is my feature on sports star Babe Didrikson.
STATION PROMOS
When I started as Program Director, we’d been airing certain promos for five to ten years. I thought it was time we revamp our branding to include ideas from this year’s WCSF team, so we had a couple of really fun brainstorming sessions with Radio Club that produced a lot of great new material. Below are a couple of my contributions to our station promo project.
The Smiths “Miserable Now” Prebreak
Is that darn bridge up again?
WCSF is based out of Joliet. In the area, we have traffic-stalling drawbridges so notorious, they make a cameo at the start ofThe Blues Brothers. I made this promo with the bridges and The Blues Brothers in mind.
Route 66
Another Joliet-themed promo. This one references the fact that Joliet is right off of Route 66.
Cartoon Splat
I had a lot of fun with sound design on this one.
